What does a fruitful partnership consists of?

Presenter(s):

The first session of Selling Drupal track is given by Saila Laitinen, the Sales Director at Exove. The description for the session is as follows:

"The very first time I’ve faced a true intention of creating a win-win ecosystems in business was at Nokia in the form of S60 Product Creation Community. Nokia realized that they cannot and will not handle all aspect of an S60 phone program but instead saw themselves picking the profits from their own devices and services. This created room for technology houses of all sizes around the world. Unfortunately this path faced a dead-end when Nokia killed the Symbian platform and turned into MS. But the concept of ecosystems will stick in my head forever.

I can see the web world facing the similar kind of crossroads. It is full of small or medium size technology houses all having its own strengths and weaknesses. Open source technologies, as good as they might be, bring along lots of challenges compared to so called closed systems/products. These challenges introduce several new ways to collaborate and combine the muscle power between several companies.

Creation of a successful ecosystem is not a trivial job, one needs to take into account several things. This presentation introduces some very practical and proved-to-work tools for establishing a fruitful ecosystem that maximizes not only the open source community members but also the customers utilizing the technology in their business."

The slides can be found in two parts due to the limitations of the maximum file size.
